GYDE365-Design Content Catalogue

GYDE365-Design contains a number of Survey Templates, each consisting of a series of questions. The questions are written using primarily business language, without reference to Dynamics 365-specific terminology where possible, to make it easier for users to answer the questions confidently. Questions are grouped into Sections, Sections are grouped into Chapters, and a collection of Chapters together forms a Survey Template. Chapters reflect modules within Dynamics 365 and each Section breaks the module content into topic-related segments. When a survey is completed, a strong view of the cross-functional requirements of a business is gathered, which informs the build of a functional Dynamics 365 system application.

Survey Template, Chapters & Sections

Partners can review and add questions to existing GYDE365 Survey Templates or alternatively build their own custom Survey Templates and add in their own content.

Survey Templates

Access to GYDE365-Design provides you with a series of standard Survey Templates covering Dynamics 365 modules.

Survey Templates can exist in draft mode and once complete, can be published, at which point, no further changes can be made. Once a Survey Template is published, it can then be made available to an end-user to complete their Analysis and Solution Design.

The included standard Survey Templates will be reviewed and updated on a continuous cycle for various reasons, including remaining in alignment with the latest Microsoft Dynamics 365 version updates.

Chapters

The Chapters within a standard Survey Template align to the modules available within Dynamics 365. After defining which modules are in scope for a business project, published Chapters can be copied into a customer-specific Survey Template. Alternatively, an existing Survey Template with pre-built chapters can be published directly to end-users without any need for change.

By aligning Chapters to core modules within Dynamics 365, it ensures all content is mastered within a central location. This facilitates simplified content management now and in the future.

Sections

Sections are found within each Chapter. They break a Chapter down into manageable and meaningful topics. End-users can review the Sections prior to taking the survey in order to get an understanding of the types of question content that will follow. This enables the correct business user to be assigned to answer the right questions.

All standard Survey Templates currently available are shown below. You can drill down into each of the included Chapters and from there into each of the Sections that make up that Chapter by clicking on the Additional Detail buttons.

Dynamics 365 Business Central

The Dynamics 365 Business Central Survey Template exists within the GYDE365-Design collection tailored towards Business Central projects.

Dynamics 365 Field Service

The Dynamics 365 Field Service business application forms part of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution. It exists to enable organisations to improve their management and organisation of on site service delivery at customer locations. The application combines workflow automation, scheduling algorithms, and mobility to set up mobile workers for success when they’re onsite with customers fixing issues. Field Service is positioned to provide tools for Customer service agents, Service managers, Dispatchers, Field technicians and Inventory managers.

Field Service supports existing and new service agreements that primarily exist for preventative maintenance alongside provision of discounts when relative. This includes the following topical sections:

The Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management Survey Template is the first template within the GYDE365-Design collection.

Business Administration

Business administration considers the setup and management of a business. It includes all aspects of business elements to structure oversee and influence business operations. This includes understanding the structure of business operational activities. The purpose of this is to gather enough information to understand business operations and provide a platform for a Dynamics 365 implementation.

General Ledger

The General Ledger has in-depth flexibility to define and manage the financial records within a legal entity and supports the seamless integration of cross-modular transactions. This module is central to all Finance implementations. 

Purchase Ledger

The Purchase Ledger underpins the procure-to-pay process. This functionality empowers a business’s ability to control supplier information, manage invoices and process payments. This chapter is tightly integrated with Procurement, General Ledger and Cash and Bank Management.

Sales Ledger

The Sales Ledger module underpins the order-to-cash cycle. This functionality empowers a businesses ability to control customer information, manage invoices and process payments.

Credit & Collections

Credit and Collections controls the successful management of customer credit limits and collections activities, should they be deemed necessary.

Cash & Bank Management

Cash and Bank Management considers the setup and maintenance of a legal entities bank accounts, relative financial instruments associated with bank accounts, their ongoing management and processes such as bank reconciliation.

Procurement

Procurement supports the procure-to-pay cycle and empowers businesses with the capabilities to purchase non-stocked goods and services by product category. This chapter incorporates all necessary functionality to conduct supplier management, apply purchasing policies, maintain charges and enable approval workflows.

Fixed Assets

Fixed Assets chapter enables the management of items of value such as buildings, vehicles, land and equipment owned by an individual or company. Acquisitions, depreciation and disposals can be managed and considered.

Tax

Tax considerations must be made to determine global VAT policies and industry specific requirements.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Budget and forecasting processes both long-term strategic planning and annual budget planning, both supported through a budget plan document. Budget plan documents are tightly integrated with Microsoft Excel. This chapter includes all configuration and planning details required.

Sales & Marketing

Sales and Marketing supports the order-to-cash cycle and empowers businesses to market and sell products and services to a global set of consumers. From contacts, leads, prospects and opportunities, functionality exists to manage the transparent transition through to the creation of sales orders. Marketing activities can be managed and promoted to maintain and grow the customer base in line with business objectives.

Procurement & Sourcing

Procurement and Sourcing supports the procure-to-pay cycle and empowers businesses with the capabilities to purchase stocked and non-stocked goods and services by product category and by item. The Procurement and Sourcing survey builds on Basic Procurement by introducing capabilities to purchase at item level and receipt goods into a warehouse. The ability to raise a purchase requisition is introduced alongside advanced workflow and trade agreement capabilities. The level of Procurement required by a business is dependent upon requirements and other chapters undertaken.

Human Resources

Human Resources primarily exists to manage employees and worker records. The optional and more advanced functionality can enable a business to manage recruitment, employee onboarding, training and upskilling, rewards and compensation alongside employee departures within a single platform.

Stock Management

Stock Management demonstrates the lightest level of inventory functionality required for an implementation. This consists of only the core functionality required to configure items and/or services and can be added alongside the Procurement functionality to enable end-to-end purchasing of stocked items of which can be stored in 1-2 warehouses, sites or locations.​

Advanced Warehousing

Advanced warehousing is the most advanced level of manufacturing functionality that is all encompassing of the processes required to manage warehouse inbound, outbound and internal processes. This inventory functionality facilitates manufacturing operations and detailed product setup including Bill of Materials or Formulas, Production operations and controls alongside full integration with the warehouse mobile application.

Product Information Management

Product Information Management enables a business to master product information for a single or shared product for one or many business entities.  It refers to processes and technologies that focus on centrally managing information about products (for example, across supply chains). It’s crucial that shared product definitions, documentation, attributes, and identifiers be used. In the various modules of a business solution, product-specific information and configuration are required in order to manage the business processes that are related to specific products, product families, or product categories.

Master Planning

Master Planning helps a business manage the supply and demand of goods.

Manufacturing Shop Floor Management

Shop Floor Management in this context refers to the Manufacturing Execution capabilities in Dynamics 365. This includes the configuration and deployment of the production floor execution devices and terminals, as well as the integration to time & attendance capabilities.

Core Manufacturing

Core manufacturing is made up of the elements of production that are consistent across discrete, process, and lean manufacturing. The content in this section of the report is independent of the type of items that are being produced, or the manner in which they are made.

Discrete Manufacturing

Discrete manufacturing is the production of distinct items using order-based production. The core concepts of discrete manufacturing include; Bills of materials (BOMs) to outline the components included in manufacture, resources to determine the requirements and capacity of a company to complete manufacturing work, and routes to outline the process steps required for manufacture.

Process Manufacturing

Process manufacturing is associated with formulas and manufacturing recipes, in contrast with discrete manufacturing, which uses discrete units, and bills of materials. Process manufacturing is used in manufacturing environments where production is completed in batch or semi-continuous processes.

Quality Management

Quality Management processes can be implemented to control the quality of goods. This allows for test samples to be created and moved to a location for inspection. After testing is complete, the test items are moved to a location according to the outcome of the test.

Project Management & Accounting

Project management and accounting functionality can be used across an array of industries to provide a service, produce a product, or achieve a result. There are a variety of project types available for configuration in order for businesses to meet the necessary requirements. The project management and accounting module provides the tools for planning and execution of project tasks with the necessary financial capabilities.

Expenses Management

Expenses Management manages employee expenses from receipt and cost capture, reimbursement and customer recharge. The process is paperless and reduces manual intervention with workflow approval.

Intercompany

Intercompany accounting includes Intercompany accounting and Intercompany trade. Intercompany accounting allows automatic postings to be created when transactions cross legal entities within the General Ledger.

Intercompany trade supports the buying and selling of goods between related legal entities.

User Role Security

Dynamics 365 has a role-based security model where access is granted to security roles, which are then assigned to users. This chapter aims to gain an understanding of the security roles required within the company.
