Container types

Overview

In Dynamics 365 there are two basic methods to achieve packing if required; manual packing and automatic packing (which is known as containerisation). Both methods introduce the concept of containers which represent the physical structure in which the products are packed e.g. small, medium, large boxes, pallets, etc. This can be useful to see the number, type and physical dimensions of containers that are used in a shipment.

Containers must be created before items can be packed into them. Each container must be based on a container type, which defines a container’s physical and maximum volumes and weight capacity. These are created via Warehouse management > Setup > Containers > Container types
