Barcode formats

Dynamics 365 supports various barcode formats that can be used for stock management and other supply chain-related processes. Some of the commonly used barcode formats include:

  1. Code 39: This is a widely used barcode format that can encode alphanumeric characters. It is commonly used for labelling stock items, packaging, and shipping containers.
  2. Code 128: This is another commonly used barcode format that can encode alphanumeric characters, as well as special characters. It is often used for labelling high-density items (items that have a high value or have a small physical size relative to their value), such as electronic components, pharmaceuticals, and automotive parts.
  3. QR Code: This is a two-dimensional barcode format that can encode much more data than traditional barcodes. It is often used for mobile scanning applications and can be used for tracking stock, labelling assets, and providing product information.
  4. Data Matrix: This is another two-dimensional barcode format that can encode large amounts of data in a small space. It is often used for labelling electronic components, medical devices, and automotive parts.

Dynamics 365 also supports other barcode formats, such as EAN-13, UPC-A, GS1 and Interleaved 2 of 5. When configuring barcodes it is important to ensure that the barcode format is compatible with the scanning hardware and software being used.

Many of the above barcode formats also have different versions.
