Overview
Opportunities are often used as part of the customer qualification process before a sales quote or order is raised. Business Central includes standard functionality which allows you to create sales opportunities directly from contacts, supporting the customer acquisition sales process and enabling efficient management of new sales opportunities.
How Opportunities Work in Dynamics 365 Business Central
In Business Central, the Opportunities List page is where you can manage interactions with opportunities, including the creation of new opportunities:

Opportunities can be created in numerous ways:
- Manually from the opportunities list page

- From a salesperson

- From a contact

When an opportunity has been won and negotiations are over, you can close the opportunity and proceed to make a sales quote and/ or a sales order for the won opportunity. It is imperative that sales cycles and stages are first set up in Business Central to define the organisation’s essential phases which are required for the sales cycle process.
